After I painted I sometimes noticed dragon shapes in the kind of caligraphy I made. Something about the movement of my line lended itself to making dragon shapes occur frequently. I worked on fiber because I felt it brought me closer to my roots. I signed my maiden name most of the time in hopes that my family would find me. I heard some of the Widler family lived in Canada but I didn't know how to find them. Years later I met a second cousin who was a carpet import salesmen from Vancouver, British Columbia. An interest in my Widler family had a major influence on the Asian character of my paintings.
